cannot browse to microsoft.com
For the past 2 days, I have not been able to get to Microsoft. I also cannot get downloads from some tech help sites although I can get to their home pages. I also cannot get my email through the Yahoo Mail page, only through Outlook. I can browse the NY Times and other benign sites. I have a current McAfee package, with up-to-date defs and scans. Have run Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, AVG Antispyware, CWShredder, and CCleaner looking for bad guys. But have only found some mid-level tracking cookies, which I deleted and still could not get where I wanted to.

The only item I found related to this issue was on Experts Exchange, which I was only able to access by using my husband's laptop with his Verizon broadband card -- no luck going out over AT&T my home ISP. They talked about a DNS server attack. But I didn't understand how I could do a fix on my pc. Or if I was even close in my search, for that matter.

Does anyone have any ideas here for me to try?

Thanks,
Belfran

Update on this post: it's the router. After a Linksys firmware update, the inability to browse to certain pages cropped up. I tried lowering security level in Internet options per Linksys web; no joy. Tried variations on the MRU rate pinging yahoo and microsoft. But that gave me zip. Without the router in the network, no problems reaching all sites. So will end up talking to the Linksys folks. If that fails, the router is getting tossed and I'll buy from a different manufacturer.
