Solved: What's Up With SpywareBlaster?
Yesterday, I went into the TSG ''Security Help Tools" sticky thread and clicked on the first link I saw for downloading SpywareBlaster. It took me to the JavaCool site. In the spot where it said "download now", I clicked and got to Javacool's next page, which offered a choice of three links to other sites to download from. Out of those three, I could not open, install or run the downloads from two sites (Download.com and Major Geeks) because my computer popped up a message box saying the SpywareBlaster files were corrupted and that I should replace them with new ones. I deleted them and went to hopefully find another download. The third link (Coral) wouldn't even open...I guess they were too busy.

I came back here to the Help Tools thread and clicked on SpywareBlaster Tutorial at BleepingComputer.com. They also had a Blaster download available. The downloading went fine, but the same thing happened as with the other ones. My computer warned that the files were corrupted and to replace them.

I found this all very odd.

Does anyone know of another trusted site where I can get SpywareBlaster? Thanks so much.

Where and when are you seeing the corruption message? Try turning off your AV.

Elvandil, I was seeing the corruption message after download from the sites was completed and I had Saved the files into My Documents folder. (a tutorial said to save to a place where I could easily find the files, so I clicked Save instead of Run when I downloaded). When I went into My Documents to get the file and install it (also instructions from the online tutorial), I clicked on SpywareBlaster and that's when the corruption message popped up.

Just a while ago I clicked the link you provided and happy to say I had no problem downloading and installing at all. A couple of things I did differently this time; I saved the file into Desktop. Taking your suggestion. I turned off the Norton Antivirus before doing the download. Don't know if any of that made the difference, but I've finally got my installation done. Many thanks to you for your interest and your time!

Hi, Golferbob. Gracias for the link. Actually, mentioned in my original post, Major Geeks.com is one of the sites I used before and whose SpywareBlaster files showed up as corrupted on my computer. So I was a bit hesitant to go again.

However, I sure do thank you for responding. Everyone's time is valuable and I appreciate the effort you made for me.

Norton may have thought it was a bad guy for some reason. Many AV's scan a download just as it finishes and the last few bytes can get corrupted when it pops up the message and blocks the download from completing. Most of the time, the AV is correct and there really is an infection, but as you discovered, not always.

Thanks for posting back.

If you also have Spybot - Search & Destroy then after you update and Immunize you need to go to SpywareBlaster and make sure everything is still Protected.
