my daughters friend thought it funny to change the password to log into my daughters laptop, but now we can't access as an administrator, how can we get round this?

Hi,

This forum cannot provide help with passwords, however I can advise you that the computer manufacturer would be one place to ask for help, and you don't usually need to have a warranty in order to get some help> go to the website for the brand of computer, and look for a toll free number to call, or to chat online with a tech (the easiest route to use by far). Of course, you need to either have another computer at the location, but since it is a laptop, you can bring that with you and use someone's internet- as you posted here with.

Explain to the tech support people just what happened....there are more than one type of passwords especially with laptops....have all the owner information available as best you can, and any passwords you used to use as you may need them. Since notebooks/laptops are often stolen, the forum has stopped providing assistance with password workarounds. I will Close this thread after I reply.

There is also help if you know how to use a search tool like Google, to look up the information.
