can't run online virus scanners
I have a 3 month old HP desktop with Vista Premium. I have AVG free and can run a Kaspersky free online scan. The problem is that I would like to be able to run the Housecalls and Panda free online scans but something is blocking it. With Housecalls, all I get is a little popup that says "installation failed". If I want to run a scan on selected segments of my computer, it works fine. It just won't do the whole computer.

With Panda, it says that if it's the first time to run the scan, I would have to download some active X controls. When I hit the "scan now" button all I get is a blank popup that says "done" at the bottom. There's no more info on downloading the Active X controls.

I've tried turning off my AVG antivirus, firewall, and tried it with Firefox and IE. Nothing changes, I just can't download the necessary software to let the scans run. My XP machine on the same router runs the scans with no problem.

I run AVG antivirus and several spyware programs every day. I don't have any signs of malware infestation.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Almost positive that neither site supports Vista.
Housecall;
Operating System:
* Microsoft Windows 98SE/NT4.0,SP6a/2000,SP2/XP,SP1/2003 and Windows MCE 2005
* Linux Distributions that supports libc6
* Solaris 2.6 and above

Unable to find syst requirements for Pandscan.

Thanks Jeff for the input. I think you are probably right. I couldn't find the requirements on either site and Vista is never mentioned. Anyway, I feel better about it now that I have another opinion. Thanks again.

Thanks blues_harp28 for the tip. To get to the "Start" button I had to switch from Firefox to IE, but it worked great.

Appreciate all the help
