I Have Vista Windows

For Antispyware
Can I Use Both Spyware Doctor And Counter Spy?
Is It Safe To Use More Than One Antispyware Program?????

Anyone Can Answer Me???????????????????????

Hi, I'd add that if you are using the free version of Spware Doctor, as a way to check against other programs, that is fine to use with other spyware checkers, but the pay-for version might not be, as it provides real time protection and may conflict...this is true for several other programs.

And, we have a list of programs that work with Vista which might help you.


For CounterSpy with Windows Vista, it has this at their site:

  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then save the log and then the log will open in Notepad.
  • Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
don't forget this second part

Please also do this:
  • Open Hijack This and click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button.
  • Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.
  • Click the "Save List" button. After you click the "Save List" button, you will be asked where to save the file. Pick a place to save it then the list should open in notepad.
  • Copy and paste that list here in your reply

SPYWARE DOCTOR 5.5.0.178 FULL (BUT WITHOUT THE ANTIVIRUS)
(I AM THINKING UPDATING TO 5.5.0212)

(DURING INSTALLATION IT SAID TO DISABLE WINDOWS DEFENDER AND I DIT IT!?!

  • Save it to your desktop, but don't open it yet....


Run Hijackthis again....select just "Scan"

In your results of Hijackthis, place checkmarks into the box beside each of the items you have, that I list below:

Close Hijackthis.

  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply along with a Hijackthis log.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.


Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from here or here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of both, the main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply.
If the files are too long, attach them to a reply:
  1. Scroll down and click the [Manage Attachments] button
  2. Browse to the following folder:
    • C:\Deckard\System Scanner
  3. Click Upload to upload these files one by one
  4. Submit your reply
