Question Avg. updating...opens new window
I use Avg. 7.5 and also am using Firefox browser. This morning when Avg. checked for updates...The IE browser opened and at the top it said downloading http://campaign.grisoft.com/01-free78cnv/us/index.html
I closed that IE window and didn't let it download.
My question is...was it legitimate and if so, why did it open the IE browser. It's never done that before.

The same thing happened to me yesterday, I think it's their way of encouraging you to buy the paid version.

I use Firefox all the time, but I still have my default browser set to IE, so that's why IE opened up. Is your default IE?

Yes, IE is my default browser.
I hope I don't have to go thru this everyday...but at least glad it isn't a 'baddie' trying to download.

Thank you for the link Hewee.
I certainly didn't like the way AVG did this...
I see that you said AVG wouldn't be updating windows 98 after Aug.
Any recommendations? ....besides get a new computer?

avast! 4 Home Edition FREE Download

System Requirements - avast! Home Edition
For a computer running Windows® 95/98/Me:
486 Processor, 32MB RAM and 50MB of free hard disk space.

624:
How to install/uninstall AVG Free Edition components?

If you want to install or uninstall AVG Free Edition components (e-mail plug-in for example), you have to run AVG Free Edition installation using a downloaded installation file from here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download...t/0/fht/-5.624 .

Running the installation process recognises the existence of installed AVG Free Edition and the Add/Remove Components option is offered.

Reinstalling and using the Add/Remove option is necessary for example for the case that there is a new supported e-mail client (MS Outlook/The Bat!) installed on the PC after the installation of AVG Free Edition.
