In-Home Visit or Reinstallation?
I have a friend who is having some major virus problems. She has the most current up to date version of Norton and apparently is still getting numerous different windows pop up notifications stating there have been viruses found and worms found. She tried downloading a pop up blocker, spybot, and avg that I recommended, but none of them coud get any further than halfway through the initial set ups, due to overloads of pop ups and internet explorer ads freezing, causing her to have to reboot only to go through the same things repeatedly.

I suggested to her to just do a complete reinstallation and start from scratch, but she is naturally hesitant to do this.

Would you suggest calling one of those in-home technicians, (Nerds2Go/GeekSquad) which have been known to be over-priced, or do would you suggest to just reinstall software?

Thanks,
Renee

It's a Dell Dimension. About 5 years old I think.

Dell supplies restore CDs. It's quite easy to just do it yourself. You just have to change the boot order to have the computer boot from CD. Then it will wipe everything out and restore it to factory settings.
