Solved: Loss of administration
I installed a program called Exterminate It! It has taken control of my computer to I can do nothing. Not even shut it down, except with the power button.

I get the following pop up window: Windows cannot access the specified path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item

Hi and welcome to TSG.
Try a system restore.
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Select a date just prior to your problem.

Try this, Hoogercr http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/
If you can shut it off through msconfig I would then go to my control panel and delete it.

It would not allow me to run commands through Start/Run box. However, I found that Task Manager does have high enough priority through File/New Task(Run...). I was able to Restore OK, and am now back is business.
Thanks all
