are these all necessary programs?
I have Spyware blaster, AVG and Super Anti spyware. is it necessary or to my advantage to have all 3 of them? Also yesterday I got a pop up on my screen that said "threat detected". I ran my Super anti spyware and it detected 2 threats, said it took care of it and I don't seem to have any problems. Is a "threat' as serious as a virus, etc?

Hi while only one Anti-virus program is needed..having more than one Spyware program is Ok as what one program may miss in relation to Spyware the others may find.
What program said there was a threat?

Nope. I have none of those.

Generally, you do not want more than one product in any of these categories:
  • Firewall
  • AntiVirus
  • AntiSpyware
  • AntiSpam

So, you could have up to four products here, but more likely only one to three, and only one of each category.

Quote.
"Unlike anti-virus software, it IS recommended that you have more than one anti-spyware solution on your PC. This is because spyware can be very difficult to get rid of, and anti-spyware software will rarely find 100 percent of threats. By having more than one solution, what one piece of anti-spyware programme misses, the other should (hopefully) pick it up."

Smile thanks
thank you for the replies. It was AVG that popped up on my machine telling me a threat was detected, I ran my super antispyware and it detected 2 threats and said it removed them. Eerything seems ok.
