E-Mail's returned
Hi All,

Windows XP
Microsoft Outlook

I am being bombarded with e-mails that are being returned because they could not reach the sender. I have not sent these e-mails and I am worried it is some kind of virus. The message states:

This is the mail system at host mail.nnz.ru.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message.

The mail system

<ikhanov@exch.nnz.spb.su>: mail for exch.nnz.spb.su loops back to myself

Can anyone advise what to do?
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon71,

Well, it looks like you may have posted your primary email address onto another forum somewhere it is exposed and can be pharmed, and consequently, a miscreant most likely a spammer has co-opted it for spambot use with a bogus email address (namely yours) so that the origin of the spambot cannot be traced back.

If you are going to use email addresses that are exposed to the Internet (nothing to worry about here at TSG in that regard), you should create several email address with your ISP (if they accommodate it) and use one of them - always directing that email address to your spam filter.
