Skype SMS traceable?
If i am residing in the state of Kuwait, and I receive an abusive anonymous text message, if I go to the police, can they trace the message? There is no number to the text, just what seems like a sign in name. If this was a skype sign in name, can the Kuwaiti authorities find this out. And if they can, can they find out from which city/person in the world this text is coming from?

I'm sure they will be able to track it down.

Even if the sms is received from overseas? Does the Kuwaiti police have jurisdiction over skype which is a US company?

I'm sure they will be able to find out. You would have to call them and ask.

Before you run to the police in a foreign country, you might want to seriously reconsider, unless this is a matter of life or death. If it's that serious, find your embassy and talk to them. How comfortable are you navigating the laws and justice system of Kuwait on your own?

Kuwait is very different than Afghanistan. There are thousands of Americans living in Kuwait comfotarbly. Anyways, the police have already been informed, and they said they will work on it. I just have my doubts if they will be able to undo this complex puzzle. What I have learnt is that it is possible but complicated. and thats for the US authorities. So I was wondering if it would be more complicated for the Kuwaiti authorities. And also there is the question of whether the Kuwaiti authority has to ask the US authorities for Skype to reveal the info, or whether Skype can take requests from the Kuwaitis directly.
