Security Questions regarding Cell/PDA Devices
We are on a Windows server 2003 domain/ Exchange We have a variety up users who have Palm Treos, IPHONE's WINDOWS Mobile devices etc.
We are being told of security issues and that we should only be supporting " WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICES "
We are a financial Instution and work with extremely sensitive inforamation .

Is it to that Windows Mobile devices are the only true secure device? As many Loan Officers want to recieve there email on their Phones and do often get personal ino in their email.
With a Windows Mobile Devices connected to EXChange if lost we chage the password and email is gone .... In a POP/IMAP enviroment if the device is not locked then some info could be compromised and downloaded email. Anyone have anythoughts on this ???

Not true. I won't claim that the other devices are secure, but WM devices definitely aren't, by default, secure.

I think that security depends more on the application than on the device. Don't know very much about email on mobile devices.

Security on a cell phone/PDA is only as secure as your IT department can make it. For Treo's and Windows Mobile devices, Goodlink is a real good tool to use to sync data wirelessly. You can also set security measures to force a "lock" password (to unlock, you must enter a password), and also you can wipe the device wirelessly if it's ever lost or stolen.

For RIM devices (Blackberry's), you can do the same thing with Blackberry Enterprise Server.
