LogonUI.exe g2ahost.exe and a few others corrupt
So... I don't really know all that much about computers, but here's my story so far:

Yesterday I started up my computer to find about 20 windows poped up infront of the log in screen that said "LogonUI.exe - Corrupt file file dirrectory something something something (you'd think i remember by now having seen it hundereds of times) cannot be found or is not responding \Program\WindowsNT\TableTextService is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility.

I attempeted to run Chkdsk but was told i would have to schedule it for next start up. I did and it didn't start. I went into the command prompt as admistrator and was told that there were some files which were corrupted. I ran chkdsk /f and was told it would have to be scheduled for next start up.... yeh, surprise, it didn't run.

I tried to run system restore, but it told me I couldn't because parts of the OS were corrupt... then it told me to run chkdsk... Yeh... bit of a catch 22.

I have also now had warnings that g2ahost.exe, upeksvr.exe, uiStub2.exe are also corrupt.

I have norton antivirus, but unfortunately the scan is not working. It just comes up as a blank window (I spent 10 hours online yesterday with 9 reps from norton and none of them could get it to work)

Does this look familiar to any one? Anyone know what might possible be going on? i had some screwy stuff going on with my internet explorer awhile a go too. Repeated opening and such... my home page changing, so that's making me think its some kind of malware or something, but I don't have the foggyist how to go about getting rid of any of that.

Thanks so much for all your help.

Hi and welcome to TSG.
Best to wait until a Hjt log expert checks your log in your other post.
They may well spot something.

Or try a Repair install.
Insert the XP cd in the CD ROM Drive then switch on the computer.

You will receive the following message:

This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
----------------------------------------------------------
DO NOT at this point select R.... DO NOT SELECT R

Select ENTER
----------------------------------------------------------
On the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen
Press F8 to agree to the license agreement

Select current installation of Windows XP.and then

Press R to repair Windows XP.
----------------------------------------------------------
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to repair Windows.
After you repair Windows , you may have to reactivate your copy of Windows XP

Thanks so much for the help,
Unfortunately I'm running on Windows vista... Not sure which edition... i think home something. I'm out of town for work and had all the cds that came with my dell mailed to me. So hopefully I'll get them pretty soon. I'm hopeing I can get this all figured out.
Any idea what this might be? I have no clue, and I'm not particulary computer savy. Thanks so much for you help.

Hi annette
Best to have the Hjt log experts check your log.
Return to your post in the Malware forum and type
Bump.
Your log will then go to the top of the list, and be hopefully checked.

Hjt log experts are always busy, so it may take some time.
