Ive got PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus Starter Edition

which was free lifetime license with Computer Active this fortnight...

is the Anti-Virus engine any good?

I know the Anti-Spyware engine is one of the best but will it be any good at detecting viruses?

personealy i recommand u to download AVG , it comes with free edtion and paid edtion , even the free edtion dont include anti-spyware ,but it does cought normal and
<encrypted spywares> , known as <undetectable servers>. and i personally test it . others AVs like KasperSky , Nod32 , Bitdefender , avast , Antivir etc. not even close to AVG spyware security , but in the other hand the r v good in handling the trojans and virus and other threats.

Spyware Doctor is more than good enough ... with AVG Anti-spyware i dont get real-time protection for free whereas with Spyware Doctor I get award winning real-time shield for Spyware AND Viruses (for free) - both engines of which passed recent VB100 Award

yeah AVG Anti-Spyware is great detecton rate and I use it to scan , I have since removed Spyware Doctor anyway and installed Avira Anti-Virus as thats the best Anti-virus for detection you can get....

AVIRA Anti-Virus - 1,676,963 out of 1,683,364 infections (99.6%)
AVG Anti-Malware - 1,651,649 out of 1,683,364 infections (98.1%)

as you can see AVG has a good score but Avira detects about 25,000 more infections than AVG (and thats AVG Anti-virus AND Anti-Spyware combined..)

(yeah its no.2 next to Trustport but thats resource heavy using 5 other AV scanning engines and slows yer pc down)
