Norton 360 V2 Add-on Pack - Spam problem
I have just upgraded my XP system to Vista Ultimate by doing a clean install. I am fully patched. I have Norton 360/2 installed with the Add-on pack but it's spam filter does not seem to be working. The Antispam toolbar is there and all its buttons work. What doesn't work, is the filtering. Nothing ever gets automatically moved to the AntiSpam folder and nothing gets [Spam] added to its subject (I know it is more than [Spam] but since it isn't working I can't remember exactly what it is ). As a result, much spam is getting into my Inbox.

There were no other Symantec products installed in the clean installation except for
N360/2.

The system is an ASUS P5E with an Intel E8400 3 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GBytes Ram, ATI HD 2600 XT video and plenty of disk.

Hi Roset,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your posting. The AntiSpam feature of the Add-On Pack needs to be configured properly to integrate with your email client. You also need to set up your Allowed and Blocked list, as well as any rules you wish to configure.

1. Open Norton 360 2.0, and then click on the "Settings" link at the top of the window.

2. Click on the "Norton Add-On Pack icon. Make sure the box is checked next to "Norton AntiSpam.

3. Click on the "Norton AntiSpam button. You will then see all of the configuration options that you can make.

Please try configuring the AntiSpam feature and let me know if it resolves the problem.

Thank you,
Mike

Hi Mike, I was hoping you would reply!

I believe I have configured it properly. In fact, I spent about 2 hours on a web chat session today with Symantec support and we made no progress. Here are the current settings:
General tab: Medium filtering
Scanning tab: both boxes checked
Filtering: Automatically update address book to Allowed list checked; Training - Use outgoing email to improve filtering, Add recipients of email I send to Allowed list, Automatically
Client Integration: Outlook, Outlook Express checked, Outlook Contacts List checked
My Addresses: contains my email address
Autoblock: Everything checked except for local images.

Some things we tried: I did a full uninstall last night using the Norton removal tool. I then reinstalled N360 and AOP. No difference

Today, with support, we uninstalled just AOP and then retrained the new installation - no difference.
I created a simple Spam rule: Consider any email with subject = "N360 test" as spam. It does not find those.

I'm pretty good, usually, with problem solving but I'm stumped!

Don't have permission to send private message
Michael,

I tried to reply to your private message, but the system says I cannot do that. Can you send me another private message with an email address I can write to.

Thanks,
Stan

Hi Stan,

You need to enable Private Messaging on this board for your account. At the top of the window, click on "My Account," and then click on "Options." Go down the list and put a check next to 'Enable Private Messaging." Also choose "enable Email Notification of new Private Messages." Scroll down and then choose "Save Changes." Then go back into your Private message Inbox and reply to my message with the requested information

Please try this and see if you can send me the information via PM.

Thanks,
Mike
