Norton 360 problem
Hi
I recently installed norton 360 on my computer, (windows xp). Everything is fine apart from when I try to access Hotmail. It comes up with this message. "There is a problem with this website's security certificate: This organization's certificate has been revoked"
(I had the same problem on my other computer but I followed steps from this link: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...07050722540375 and it was solved, but doesnt work on the other 1) Is there a way to sort this problem?

Hi Haley,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your post. You can also try manually running LiveUpdate by going to Start->Run, and type in "luall.exe" (without the quotes). This will launch the interactive mode of LiveUpdate. Please follow the prompts and after LiveUpdate completes, you may be prompted to restart. Please run LiveUpdate again to make sure that you have the latest program and definition files installed.

The other suggestion is to clear all temporary internet files and cookies from IE and Firefox. if you do not have Firefox, I would suggest that you download it and try accessing Hotmail with that browser after you have completed the steps above.

Also, make sure that you run Windows Update to make sure that you have all Windows patches applied.


Please let me know what version of Norton 360 you are using and also if the above process resolves the problems you are experiencing with the site certificate.

Hi Mike

I have tried what you have suggest and it still doesnt work. I havent tried firefox yet I was wondering if there was anything else to try first before installing firefox. The same problem with Hotmail has just occured on my windows vista computer now.( norton 360 version 2.0).

Hi hayley,

I'm sorry you are still experiencing problems on your computer. Hotmail is notorious for having a lot of problems that seem to happen at random times. In regards to browsers, it's up to you. But i can tell you that Firefox is more secure and expandable than IE and most users I have assisted with issues like this have resolved their issue by using Firefox.

The other problem can be that you have other 3rd party antivirus and internet security applications running, which can cause conflicts with Norton 360. Please check and remove any other 3rd party antivirus and internet security applications.

Although this problem does not appear to be related to Norton 360 since everything else is working fine on your system, please follow the steps below to properly remove and reinstall Norton 360.

1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

3. Make sure that your internet connection is working properly, and then reinstall Norton 360. Towards the end of the installation process, the LiveUpdate feature will automatically run and download and install updates to both the program files and definition files. By default, LiveUpdate is set to "Automatic" and it will check for and download updates in the background, multiple times per day.

4. When the installation is complete, please manually run LiveUpdate to make sure that all of the updates are downloaded and applied. To do so, Click Start-> All Programs->Norton 360->LiveUpdate. LiveUpdate will run again and download and install any additional updates that are available. When this is complete, close the LiveUpdate window by clicking the "Finish" button.

By default, as long as you are logged in to Windows and connected to the Internet, LiveUpdate will run in the background a few times a day and automatically download and install any future updates.

Since Norton 360 has a Personal Firewall built-in, you also want to make sure that the Windows Firewall is turned off. Please check this setting in the Control Panel.


Let me know if this fixes the problem.
