how do i stop someone getting into my laptop via their computer

Uhh.. You may be infected. Are you allowing them to use remote access?

Chris241,
Check to see if you are allowing remote access:
1. Right-click on 'My Computer', either from the Start Menu or on your Desktop (Icon).
2. Choose "Properties" from the menu.
3. Choose the 'Remote' tab.
4. UNtick "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer".

IF that is not the case, (you've already got it unticked),
Post a HiJackThis report in the proper forum.

Hi Mike, thank you for your reply..i have checked computer and remote assistance is already unticked ...at the time i was using wireless connection which hubby set up from his computer..
