Avast and Roxio

I installed Avast on my desktop pc yesterday and now when i come to burn a disc using roxio my computer freezes. I paused the Avast and then tried Roxio and it worked ...was slower to work though.
Could someone please tell me what the problem is? I an burn using DVD decrypter fine with Avast runiing.
As far as i know i do not have another Anti Virus program because i have NTL Netguard but have disabled the antivurus.
I am running windows XP
Any help would be appreciated .
