Solved: virus? or corruption error? help!
I recently rebooted my computer to find some sort of error or virus affecting it. It is pretty new, so i believe its probably some sort of virus. Everytime i turn my computer on, i get messages saying every .exe program i have is corrupted. My computer still turns on fully and works completely, but every time i open something i get another message saying that program is also corrupted. In every message that i get, it also points to a specific folder being unreadable/corrupted. C:\program files\google. I have tried to delete this folder to no avail, and my virus scan cannot search it either. I cannot open it in any way. I have tried to delete it with killbox also, and that does not work either. my computer is a dell xps 1530, running on a dual core 2 ghz intel w 3gig of ram, vista premium 32 bit. I desperately need someone to help me out here. thanks.

Just to rule out that it is a hard drive problem. I would right click the drive, choose properties, then the tools tab, then Error-checking.

After that, I would go through the online scanners listed in this forum's sticky 'Security Help Tools' and see if they find any viruses. Try at least two scanners, in hope that what one misses the other will find.

I finally solved the problem. I think it was maybe a combo of both. There was a trojan found, and after i removed that, then ran a system hard disk check, i think it repaired. I dont know exactly, because the damn thing took all night, so when i woke up in the morning it was all fine. thanks for the suggestions.
