AVG 8
SOLO

You should add links to the websites for all of them. Ewido is now owned by Grisoft, so you can delete that one. Also, are you just looking for anti-virus, or both anti-virus and anti-spyware?

Why do we need a list of every Antivirus application? This doesn't help anyone, it only raises your post count. Telling people a few of the best probably would help but a list such as this is plain pointless.

Besides, lists like this have already been compiled. No offense, but a list of antivirus applications is not necessary.

No offence but a compiled list of all availible Antivirus application up to date is imformative to people that might be looking for one. Your comment about this post only raises your post count. Post counts don't mean anything to me but might to you.
If you don't have a Antivirus application you would like to add in the interest of this posting i believe this is pointless. Your comment's are always welcomed.

Yes i should add links to the websites for the one i have added so far, very good idea, thanks for the suggestion.

Alright, three things can happen when users are looking for an antivirus...

1. They see this thread and download an antivirus program. The antivirus ends up not be that great and is not updated correctly/often and the user is infected.
2. The user sees this list and starts a thread asking which application is the best.
3. The user never sees this list and creates a thread.

Users don't want any old antivirus application, they want the best one. That's why their threads are named something like "Whats the best antivirus pplication." Why would you want someone to use the 2nd, 3rd, or 15th best antivirus application when they could be using the best? There's also that whole "free" aspect of everything, why should people pay for an AV (that is far from the best) when they can get one for free that works great, is constantly updated, and has many other satisfied users.? It's also much much much easier to get support (whether it be on forums or from a company) for widely used antivirus applications.

By the way, this thread should be in General Security (or thread games ).

Closing thread as I don't see any point in continuing this bickering.
