Virusmwrdy.js: What the HECK is this thing??
I recently plugged my mp3 player into a public computer, and when I reconnected it into my own personal PC, I was unable to open the removable disk drive. (F drive) An alert had popped up saying 'cannot find C://virusmwrdy.js'. Then, I quickformat my mp3 player n it worked fine again.

I've done some looking up on the net and I have heard it referred to as the rose virus? It is supposed to make duplicates of all your files and whats nots in your computer and thus slow the PC like madness.

I am afraid I am at a complete loss over this.

What I want to know is:

Have I got it? My computer runs fine, processess are normal, and IE is normal too. My virus scanner (McAfee) showed up clean too. But I am worried this is the virus that lies in hiding and then pop up like a weed to destroy my PC.

So, how long does it take for viruses to take effect/show symptoms? How can I know for sure?

I am slightly paranoid, I admit, and so I would appreciate any additonal information anyone can provide about this virus, which, btw, doesn't show up on any virus encyclopedia.

i am baffled.

Thanks for all the help!

To be on the safe side, supplement your onboard antivirus with one or two online scans from other vendors listed in this forum's sticky ' Security Help Tools'.
