Computer going extremely slow, vvserv.exe using 100,000+ K Mem Usage.
Hello, back again. Posting my problems a couple times a month as it seems the only thing I have with computers is problems, yet sometimes for no reason.

Anyways, I just recently installed BitDefender Total Security 2008 and from what i've heard BitDefender is supposely one of the best antiviruses out there according to many internet reviews. So, just recently I've been having some major problems with my computer. It seems as though my mouse isn't reacting to certain situations the same way (which makes me believe someone is hijacking my computer or something like) and when I try to click on something one time, it clicks twice. The mouse is only a year old and is a HP, so I cannot see why it would be the mouse. Plus, my computer has been going the slowest I've ever seen it go. I don't know if it's ever since I installed BitDefender or something, because I am using my father's friend's laptop a lot more than the computer that is going slow, but my parents ALWAYS use it and once this laptop goes back to my father's friend, then we will not have a computer if I don't fix the one that's going really slow.

Of course I could reinstall XP and such, but I really do not feel like doing that, as I've done it too many times and the hassle of recreating everything and such is not very fun. That will be my last and final try, if nessecary, of this big mess.

My computer isn't very high-tec compared to today's average on-the-market computer, as it only has 256 MB of RAM and a 800 MHz processor. Nowhere does BitDefender state their specific system requirements so it is believed that you do not need any special requirements, plus the free edition only requires 64 MB of RAM, so I highly doubt BitDefender Total Security would use that much more. I have no clue what vvserv.exe is, if it's in any way related to BitDefender or a virus or something, but whatever it is, it is taking the majority of my computer's memory usage and page file usage history on Windows Task Manager. While I have my computer on, it can be at the very top which is 800+ MB. I also noticed that yesterday vvserv.exe was going at a whopping 100,000+ K Memory Usage. I've never seen a .exe use that much of my memory usage since the web browser known as Opera.

I cannot access anything without it being slow. Just going on MSN it's slower than I've ever seen it before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I also have no clue if this is the correct place to place this in, hopefully it is

Do a search for vvserv.exe. Make sure you check search in hidden and system folders. Once it finds it, right click on the file and click Open file location. Now go to VirusTotal and scan the file.

zbd21, that's not really related to his problem... CCleaner is a tool to remove temporary files and unneeded registry entries, it is very unlikely that Advanced Windows Care could solve it, and disk cleanup is also used to remove temporary files, although CCleaner does a much better job.

WWEFreak666, I don't think vvserv.exe is related to BitDefender, but you could still remove BitDefender using these instructions and switch to a different antivirus such as AVG. If you do decide to remove BitDefender, you should probably follow instructions for both the system tool and uninstall tool just to make sure you completely remove everything.

If vvserv.exe is a running process, the file will be locked and you won't be able to delete it. Try booting up in Safe Mode ( press F8 repeatedly after the memory counting bios startup page ) and deleting it from there.

Or just end the process... he needs to scan the file first anyways.
