Has anyone had this problem..!

My OS is Windows XP. I also use Windows Live OneCare for security, however, when I try backup the program will began to collect all files for backup and once backup is started it hangs at 1% freezing all programs. This will include Windows XP as well... This cause me to shut down the computer with power button. I have tried re-install and Live OneCare forums with no success. Anyone have an idea what I could do to fix this problem? My backup is to an external drive 200GB. Plus my shut down is about 3 minutes in duration now and the entire system is running slow. Attached is Hijack This!
