Question Computer turns off during virus scan
i am running windows xp media edition and virgin media pc guard every time i try to do a virus scan the computer turns its self off, this happens at varying degrees of scanning does anyone know how i can resolve this?

Hi and welcome to TSG.
Is it only during a virus scan that this happens?
Try a scan in safe mode..Tap F8 at startup..does it happen there?

computer turns off during virus scan
i tried in safe mode as you suggested and computer did not turn itself off will i have to always scan it like that? thanks for advice

A virus scan should work in normal mode.
Are you using the full version of Virgin Pc Guard that includes Spyware protection?

yes i am running full version of pc guard the virus scan did work once after i reinstalled it last week am not sure what else to do it did work properly a while ago
