Security for a Laptop
Computer : Laptop
OS : Vista Home Premium

On a scale of 1 - 5 (bad to good) how would the security experts on this Forum rate the following security setup options for a laptop.

Option 1

Firewall : Windows Vista
AV : Kaspersky
Spyware : Windows Defender

Option 2

Firewall : ZoneAlarm (Free version)
AV : Kaspersky
Spyware : Windows Defender

Option 3

Firewall and Spyware : ZoneAlarm Pro
AV : Kaspersky


Option 4

Firewall, AV and Spyware : Trend Micro Internet Security Pro

Option 5

Firewall, AV and Spyware : Kaspersky Internet Security

I would go with:

Firewall : Vista (if you really want one, get zone alarm free)
AntiVirus: Avast free, Avira free
Spyware: Windows Defender, or Malware Bytes Anti Malware

Custom: Kapersky and Windows Firewall.
Even Better: Norton 360
Best: Uninstall Vista and use XP. Way more secure.

Vista is actually about as safe as XP or even a little safer. If you're looking at the secureness of an operating system XP and Vista would be so close it wouldn't matter.

Norton 360 has one of the best detection rates i have seen although it is very resource hungry and I would only suggest this to people who have a powerfull PC and/or no need for speed.

And I would definately recommend Kaspersky but would opt for the free or paid version of ZoneAlarm
