Is GoogleUpdate.exe a safe program?
There's supposed to be a browser plugin for Google Earth that apparently requires GoogleUpdate.exe to be installed. My firewall is bringing up all these concerns about it, so I'm just kind of wondering if it's safe.

Should be safe, yes, but any malware can pose as anything, so... if you downloaded everything directly from GoogleEarth you should be fine, if not- take care when allowing internet access.

What is the exact message you get from your firewall (and which firewall are you using)?

I'm using Comodo firewall. I'm not sure what the exact message, or rather messages were, as I decided at the time to abort the installation until I was sure of what I was doing. Mostly they were messages saying something like googleupdate.exe is an unknown program and is trying to modify this file (then a long path to the file name). If this is a program you use all the time it is probably safe, but some malware programs also make use of this. or something like that.
