Internet Security Programs - Resource Hogs
I've been using Kaspersky for some time and it seems to be a resource hog. My PC seems to be slowed down greatly in comparison to my son's laptop with ESET and my wife's with Norton IS.
Are there security programs that are less of a hog on system resources? Can anyone suggest a better option than Kaspersky?

I use Avast http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
It doesn't seem to slow mine down at all. Its also free.
I've never used the one you have so I can't compare the two, It is the best I've used so far.

I just purchased Kaspersky - and it is a bit of a pain. I am getting all sorts of pop ups and now my microsoft outlook and microsoft office word will not open - it keeps scaning my computer and slowing things down. A pain is what it is.

So if we remove kaspersky and put avast on there - the freeware one - is that enough protection (i have spybot too) or do we need something else.
