They're neck and neck. Some tests sat AVG is more accurate and some say Avast is. Whatever.

I would say avast as if you read users reviews on the net,you will see that quite a no of them have experience problems(locks up the system, blue screens for example)with AVG 8(Btw it is still free.download it at free.grisoft and not www.grisoft).

Personally,I've have avast and AVG 8 installed on my desktop and laptop respectively for about a month now(used to have avira on both)and so far,I've have had no problems with them.
I think both works equally fine(that's assuming your computer doesn't lock up with AVG 8 as some of the users reported)

As a last note,I wouldn't recommend avira at this point as both avast and AVG 8 are now full-fledged antivirus and antispyware software while avira isn't(it does promise to remove some, but not all kinds of spyware)

Hope this helps

Editedne more thing I dislike bout it,avira displays ads EVERYTIME it updates while AVG8 and avast doesn't.
