Possible Security Problem
I discovered 2 login problems today. My membership for an organization was deleted by someone and with another organization someone changed my password. Doesn't that sound like a possible security problem? I have up-to-date anti-virus software and 2 anti-spyware programs. I use Ad-Aware which I find to be terrific. I update everyday and I ran scans everyday. I'm careful about where I go on the net. I don't open suspicious email. No one uses my computer and I'm almost always at home (and when I'm not I have cameras). I think I have my bases covered about as much as I can. Any suggestions about what could have gone wrong?

There is no absolute defence that is totally impregnable. Each signature based anti-malware can only detect using what signatures they have. I suggest people to suppliment their host based antivirus with an online scan from another vendor every month or two. See this forum's sticky 'Security Help Tools' for a list of online scanners.

Are you part of a network? There's a chance that your passwords are sniffed over the wire ( or over the air if your network is wireless )

Re: Possible Security Problem
I never did figure out what happened. Both problems were resolved by getting new passwords. No, I'm not part of a network. I'm currently on a dial-up. Doesn't that make it harder for anyone to get through?
I did have a new problem come up yesterday. I tried to do a defrag. Computer said I didn't need one for Drive C but I did need one for Drive D. However, it claimed I didn't have enough space left so I should delete some files. Well I deleted everything that I didn't need. That didn't change anything. I managed to defrag it most of the way. I have 250GB but currently have 207 GB free on Drive C and only 8.82 GB on Drive D. But I only have 576 MB currently on Drive D which it says is only 6% and therefore making it hard to do a complete defrag. I'm I wrong or doesn't something seem not quite right with Drive D? I recently uploaded a lot of files from my old computer and some new software. I ran Norton Anti-Virus scans, Spy Ware scans, and Ad-Aware scans on everything. Nothing turned up. I keep everything updated on a daily basis. Just how much more does one have to do to keep these pestky hackers at bay?? Would I be safer on the net using my old computer with Windows 98? I understand that most current viruses, etc. are written for newer computers. I'm currently using XP.

I think I saw somewhere that you need 15% free space on a drive before you can defag it.
