Question Solved: Prevx 2.0 vs Microsoft security downloads
Just finished a download of about five or six security downloads pushed at me from Microsoft.

Rebooted as was necessary and was confronted by Prevx that an entity had been "JAILED".

As I recall, Prevx referred to it as 000004_tmp.dll.

Prevx reported, upon being asked for details, that this menace has only just appeared in the last 24 hr period on about 900 or so machines. Prevx listed its characteristics as "appearing" and "disappearing".

I questioned Prevx' accuracy on this analysis, with a note thru their site, by pointing out that this is probably legitimate to the security update process.

Prevx responded by pitching a little fit and shutting down.

Got a response from Prevx tech support.

THEY AGREE WITH MY ANALYSIS OF THE SITUATION.

They told me to "double-click" on the module in the console panel display on my machine.

Of course I CAN'T because the console is nothing but an angry red display shouting that I now need to purchase/renew a license.

I deleted the software.

Is my original security download from MS and installation now HOSED because Prevx incorrectly interfered and locked it out??????!

You can run windows update again to see if it offers anything new to download. I think it can realiably check to see if any update is installed.

Yes, I did just that.

Everything seems to be cool.

All of the "hard" fixes were installed and only a handful of optional items were listed as available.
