Unable to Remove Old Java version
I regularly use Secunia's Software Inspector to be sure I have the necessary updates to the programs on my computer. Today the Inspector indicated a newer Java version was available, and I downloaded it. When I went to the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs to remove the old vulnerable version found by Secunia (jre 1.6.0_02), I saw it listed but there was no Remove button available. I checked the Java site and found the instructions "If the normal uninstallation process (Control Panel Add/Remove) fails, then please try Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This tool will ensure that all irrelevant Java Runtime Environment Microsoft Installer (msi) registries are removed". I downloaded and used this tool, but the only thing accomplished was to remove the entry from Control Panel's Add/Remove list. Secunia still finds the offensive version, which is clearly evident in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.0.0_02\bin\java.exe. At this point I don't know how to proceed. May I simply delete the jre1.0.0._02 directory, or what steps should I take?

I would be grateful for help with this!

You should not delete the directory. That will leave tons of invalid keys in the registry and orphaned files. Try Revo uninstaller.
