yes that is true, and that's what I use sandboxie for,

I happen to think it's a great security program,

and as far as I know right now there are no security holes in sandboxie, in other words as of now there's no known malware that can break through sandboxie.

EDIT: the only thing you have to worry about is picking up a keylogger while browsing in a sandbox so it's usually good measure to empty the sandbox before logging into any sites like banking sites and such,

there are ways to set up the sandbox to only allow certain programs that you specify to run in the sandbox though so that way even if you did pick up a keylogger it wouldn't be able to run.

EDIT2 Here's how to only allow certain programs to run in sandboxie --> Stop Keyloggers In Sandboxie

HOWEVER ---

the sandbox may have leaks as hackers constantly find their way around roadblocks. Keep it updated. And use common sense.

yes I think there have been leaks in the past but the guy that makes the program is very fast to close any leaks, I've seen him close leaks usually within 24 hours before,

that and since not many people use it not many crackers go after it (they usually go after antivirus programs) and even if they did it's like a virtual machine newer more advanced malware can detect they're in a virtual environment but all that happens is they just don't activate but they can't escape the virtual environment,

and as of the newest version of sandboxie as far as I know there are no known leaks,

I've even tested sandboxie myself with various types of malware and nothing was able to escape the sandbox,

another way it works is anything in the sandbox can not have higher system rights than sandboxie,

I would suggest to use an antivirus or hips (if you know how to use one) just in case but I happen to think sandboxie offers better protection than any antivirus as long as you use it for all of your threatgate programs (web browser, email client, etc.)
