How much protection is too much?
Can I have these programs for protection all running at the same time?

COMODO BOClean Anti Malware
ThreatFire
Avast 4.8 Antivirus
AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
WinPatrol
Windows Defender
Windows Firewall

Thanks!

Certain programs will interfere with the other, I wouldn't recommend running that many in the background, it will use up a lot of memory between all of those running. I'd stick with avast and windows defender/firewall..that should be all the basic protection you need. I always choose between AVG or Avast, I think they are somewhat similar. So the answer is yes you can have all of them run at the same time, is it a good idea? Probably not and you don't necessarily need all of those fighting in your background.

Isn't ThreatFire a firewall?

The only time that you should be worried if you have too much security is if your computer is going slower because you have too much security

In addition to the above.
Two Anti-virus..two Firewalls..two real time Spyware programs will interfere with each other and could give you less protection as they compete with each other in trying to scan your system.

This is REALLY TRUE.... I second it!

Thats why I run my spyware Dr once a week and never on my startup programs.

If you can minimize your tray icons to less than 4..your doing GREAT!

Use one firewall if you have to have one, one antivirus and any amount of antispyware programs and you will be fine.

If you have more than one anti virus and firewall they can conflict, which can lead you with less protection than if you just had one.
