SUPERAntiSpyware discussion
Over the weekend, I made a new friend. It's name: SUPERAntiSpyware!

I added it to the arsenal I used to conduct battle with an assortment of nasties infecting a laptop running Windows XP Home Edition (SP2, now SP3).

Ad-Aware 2007 removed a bunch of stuff, but it kept coming back.

Spybot S&D 1.5.2 removed a bunch MORE stuff, but had issues with some of it.

AVG 8 free edition removed a bunch of viruses and some spyware but not all of it.

SUPERAntiSpyware was able to cleanup a bunch that was left over and the system is happy, once again.

I'm officially a fan of SUPERAntiSpyware! Have you had any bad experiences with it? If you have, please post 'em 'cuz I wanna read 'em.

If you're also a fan of SUPERAntiSpyware, please show your support here!

Peace...

Wow, ok. One of the things I noticed about SUPERAntiSpyware is how fast it ran on the system I was working on. Maybe whatever Ad-Aware and Spybot already removed allowed it to run more efficiently? I was impressed with how fast it actually was.

Peace...

Personally I have never used a better antispyware program, it is seamless, you never know it is there and it can find and remove anything on an infected system. I see no reason to go any further. The other neat thing is it even has tools in it to repair common problems with Windows after spyware removal under "Preferences", "Repairs". Buy it you won't go wrong!
I make all my clients buy it.

I'm up in the air about installing this. I have it on an older machine and it seems to be a fine program. But what works on one PC may not work so well on another.

I've been sitting on the fence about this one and the Malwarebytes application. MBAM has very good word of mouth, but I'm cautious about installing yet another anti-malware program on an already fortified system.

I've got an extensive arsenal including Spybot SD, AdAware 2008, SpywareBlaster, WinPatrol, Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, Avast Antivirus, A-Squared Free Scanner, Avert Stinger Scanner and the Yahoo-supplied CA Anti-Spy and Norton Spyware (Standalone) Scan, as well as a dedicated Start Menu subfolder of shortcuts to online scans. So I'm not exactly unprotected. But if these tools, SAS and MBAM, are as good as I keep hearing, is there a good reason not to install one or both of them?

Did some more homework and decided to install MBAM. Right away I noticed a world of difference in the GUI from SAS Free, whose appearance does no justice to the powerful tool within. MBAM has a very clean, professional-looking interface. I hope the product lives up to the appearance.

I suppose if it does cause any problems, you'll see me posting frantically from the hiptop looking for a fix

I would not be running all or even most of those spyware programs as they are mostly old technology and waste space. Of all what you listed Malwarebytes and Superantispyware are all you need.

I've been using and advising people to use SAS for about two months now. It does a good job..

When I installed Malwarebytes, it was a smooth and painless process and the program integrated seamlessly into Windows. The only issue I noticed is it wants to re-register its driver every time I scan.

Then we have SAS Free Edition.

WinPatrol and Windows Defender popped up with warnings about several new drivers, reg keys, a "WinLogon" .dll and so forth. The program took it upon itself to start with Windows, and enabled an unsightly and largely unhelpful system tray icon (which I disabled). My Avast! Antivirus keeps detecting the SAS updater as a virus. Setup was less than a breeze, including a forced restart. I just cleaned a bunch of gunk -out- of the system, and I don't appreciate this program adding new gunk.

Wait a minute...there's no uninstaller!

My God, I think I've just met my new least favorite program.

I purchased SuperAntiSpyware several months ago. It gives you the option of doing a quick scan and a more thorough scan. It recommends the more thorough scan be done at least once a month.
