can't install kasper due to AVG existance ! i do not have AVG
hey,

well i wanted to install the free trial of AV kaspersky but wn i start it tells me at the middle that i have avg installed and u have to get rid of it .. but i couldn't find it neither in the program files nor in the add\remove application window...
i used to have AVG, but i did uninstall it then afterwards i even installed Nod... so that conflict didn't happen with Nod installation

so what is it ?

Install AVG again and then uninstall it from Start > All Programs > AVG > Uninstall.

The AVG installer leaves quite a few AVG entries in the registry. Kaspersky is apparently sensitive to that and so is other software. When I removed AVG 7.5 and tried to install the AVAST software, it would freeze my PC on reboot. I took someone's tip here to use the free REVO Uninstaller. REVO does take a little thought to run as it's not just intended for AVG, but it's fairly intuitive or obvious what to click.

It seems to be a very comprehensive uninstaller and it did erase many remnants of AVG. The AVAST installed easily after that, and I actually like it better than AVG.

I've lost the source but i already downloaded another trial version to do wt u suggested , but Kaspersky recognize it as another avg .. so their is two versions of avg now !
i'll keep the avg if i did not know y or wr is the files that get kaspersky to sense that their is a "AVG"

AVG8.0 is available free from here:

http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download?prd=afe

It automatically removes AVG7.5 during the install and is a good AV solution as it stands, or will remove easily as I described above and should take away all the AVG7.5 traces.

..so the problem with revos is that it did not list AVG along with installed applications .. and its right .. it's not installed i have uninstalled it my self ... any ways .. i guess as a punishment for kaspersky i will not install it and will keep that avg trial till further notice
