Is AVG Free v8.0 bug free?
Somewhere recently, I vaguely recall reading (don't ask me where; I don't remember) that the new AVG Free version 8.0 is not entirely bug free. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2, Zone Alarm firewall, AVG Free v7.5 at the moment, AVG spyware, Ad-Aware, and Spybot. Do I need to download and begin using AVG Free v8.0 or should I stick with what I now have?

bug free, probably not
complaint free, definately not

There are all kinds of complaints floating around of conflicts with various anti spyware programs and their "immunization" features (spybot is one such conflicting program).

There is a service pack due to be released for AVG 8 free very soon (mid july) that will hopefully address the major issues which are causing the complaints. If you are considering upgrading from 7.5 to 8 I would recommend waiting until after the SP release.

AVG Free SP1 is due for release in the next few weeks (mid july or earlier). It will be a standard update to existing AVG Free 8.0 installation - no need to install new build. It will have option in custom install screen to de-select the linkscanner component.....

bug free, no

There are many false positives by AVG 8.0.
