Solved: Virus software Help !!
Hi All...

I need a little advice Pse. I have been using AVG for a number of yrs, and had no qualms with it. I'm not a super Hotshot puter Guru, but never had any major problems with it! The other night I downloaded the newer AVG version 8. A big mistake on my part. I followed the installation instructs the best I could. But ever since, it takes my puter 15 mins to boot up. Also when I open my browser, it says Server cannot be found. What a mess ! Fortunately there is a seach box that allows me to type in my Server, then my server opens. But my puter was still messed up from that Damn AVG ver 8.

This morn I decided to uninstal the piece of Crap! Now I'm without any Virus protection. Can anyone advise me to any other Virus software that is good? It doesn't have to be free either. I just want Virus protection through what ever means necessary. The previous ver of AVG 7.5 I had, is no longer available for download or I would just reinstall it, and hang in there till ver expires in Dec 08.

Thanks for any advice from anyone!

Thanks a Million Folks..

Hi! I have used Avast for years and have not had any problems. I've tried other AV but always return to Avast. You can download it here.

http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html

Download the avast! 4 Home Edition FREE Download. It updates itself constantly and works great.

[b] Thanks a Million Bonnieclark..

I downloaded it and it seems to went OK! AVG has always treated Me OK, but the newer ver 8 didn't seem to care for me much. Their ver 7.5 worked fine business. I just wish they had left it alone. Ohh Well! Life in the computer world I guess !:-))

Thanks again! I always know I can get help here at the TechGuy. A great bunch of Folks..

Thanks.. Swaneyjoe

You're welcome!

About AVG 8...

You know the old saying - if it works, change it. I think that many people have been having problems with the new version. Eventually the programmers will work the problems out.
