I use Avast. Avira gets many good ratings from users.

Yes! You can use AVAST free on more than one computer, as long as it is for home use and not for business.
http://forum.avast.com/ you might want to check their forum.

Avast and avira, i don't even give avg a look in these days because it is slow, has a very poor detection rate and it is resource hungry

I used to have AVG (the free version) on my machines, but once version 8 was released I switched to AVAST. AVG 8 simply got too big with features that were just unnecessary.

For about 3 yrs I had used Norton which seemed to work well however I noticed it used quite a bit of "horse power" from my computer and always got the impression it was tell me what to do and when . My daughter had been using Avast so before Norton was due for a renewal I deleted it (using Norton removal tool) and downloaded Avast. All has gone well and I am satisfied with my new antivirus.
PS it was very complicated and hard to find out how to cancel my auto renewal for Norton but was finally able to track it down.
