Quick question?
I recently was helped to remove viruses by cybertech- great helper, TechSupportGuy, great site.
It was suggest I ask here whether I should keep my 186 days left of Norton 360 or just uninstall it and use AVGfree. Norton did seem to keep me safe.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Personally, I would opt for the AVG. have been using it for about 5 years now... never had a virus..(knock on wood).
Also use Zone Alarm fire wall and lavasoft's ad-aware and spybot search and destroy and windows defender anti spyware programs.

Hi,

Norton 360, when it works OK on a computer, is a great program.

If you still plan to remove it (you must to use another antivirus) then
first be warned about the new version of AVG (8.0)

Many people have found that it detects files that should not be....they have changed how the new version works, so it can produce a lot of false positives....if you are aware of this, or know how to handle the situation (as well as other users of the computer....) then it would be your choice to use AVG.

I've been installing Avast Free Home Edition on users' pcs that did use AVG 7.5.....at least until we see that bugs are fixed in AVG 8.

Still your choice! You'll probably get several replies, offering one or another antivirus or other security program....there is no one best antivrus program.

Norton 360 is more of an all in one tool, so without it, you would have to use a couple or 3 other security programs, as vicks posted.

Keep Norton until it's subscription runs out, it has a great detection rate. What I found with norton though, is that is slowed my computer down a lot so if you were going to get a paid antivirus, i would go for mcafee or kaspersky.
As for avg, i wouldn't even give it a look in, it has a poor detection rate (much less than nortons), it is slow and it is very resource hungry.

Uninstall Norton 360 and get either:

Avira or Avast

They both have better detection rates than AVG
