Hi zabby,
Usually, it seems to take a combination approach to securing your system from spyware/trojans etc. A good antivirus is essential,(only 1 of course) but I run SpywareBlaster, asquared free version and Spybot Search n Destroy for my malware removal and it works well for me. I haven't had any problems.
Regards Paula

Hello
Like Pfurball says, run only 1 each antivirus and firewall. Multiple antispyware is okay.
I run Grisoft AVG anti virus, Zonelab's Zone Alarm. Spybot search N destroy, Lavasoft Ad-aware, and windows defender. Have had clean machine for over 5 years running these.. You do need to keep all updated... but the programs are all free.

Spybot Search and Destroy is a great program that will protect you from Spyware. Best of all, it's free. With the teatimer feature enabled you'll have realtime proteciton on your registry and startup.

If you believe to have spyware and trojans on your computer you should post a topic here to have professionals help you with your computer problems.

Good luck.

Different programs find different things or class them differently, especially tracking cookies. I use 5 programs for spyware/malware. I run the first 3 every week, while the other ones I run twice a month.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware,
SUPER AntiSpyware,
Spybot Search and Destroy,

cwshredder,
AVG Anti-Rootkit,

SpywareBlaster, (this acts like a firewall)

I would use multiple antispyware as stated by the past couple of posters. I use:
Spyware Terminator
Windows Defender
PC Tools Spyware Doctor and
SuperAntiSpyware

Just remember to never run more than one antivirus application at a time.
