zonealarm
All of a sudden my internet connection stopped working. After more then an hour talking to BT my server , it was established that my ZoneAlarm Firewall was the cause. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the zonealarm but to no avail Can you suggest a solution or another free and esy to use firewall. No Zonealarm no connection problems but clearly very unsafe.

This morning, same problem, found that it had updated again, removed the update and unticked the automatic update box...still no internet connection did a system restore to July 3rd internet but for some reason unknown zonealarm also disappeared, reinstalled zonealarm no internet, reduced the security setting to medium and now have internet but don't feel very secure ! Strangely when I said no zonealarm there was no icon on the tool bar and it was not listed in the programme list but it was present onthe add/remove panel. Does anyone understand this and if so can they explain it to me.
It is a great relief to be back online if only to get some help from you good people!

Yes, they have issued new versions of their programs that don't have this issue:
