Solved: Zone Alarm with XP update
Yesterday my PC - running XP SP2 - did some (unknown) automatic Windows updates before it shut down. Today neither IE7 not Outlook Express will access even my router, let alone the Internet, unless ZoneAlarm is turned off - yet I can ping the router or Internet sites quite easily. There is no problem if Windows firewall is turned on instead.

I have a wired Ethernet connection to a D-Link broadband router.

can anyone help please????

I did a 'remove' on the update patch and re-booted, after which - fortunately! - all seems to be OK. I shall wait to see what ZoneAlarm comes up with, but for the moment Automatic Updates are firmly OFF :-(

New versions of the various ZoneAlarm programs are now available for download which correct this issue:
