I don't know anything about these products but Googled and found their website. It seemed to suggest that their latest definitions dated back to 11th May (unless I misunderstood what I was seeing!)
It is quite common for 'trial' programs to 'find' and 'fix' a small number of things but require payment and registration to fix the other things it 'found'. Whether or not this is a scam only you can decide.
If you are willing to pay for protection, why not look at programs that are well known and widely acknowledged to be good. One example is NOD32 AntiVirus (which includes anti spyware) and has a 30 day trial ;
