Multiple Virus Reports
Hello,

In the past two days my computer cotinuously gets a Vista Antivirus Security center pop-up reporting Trojan VX, Wild Trojan 3, Key Trap, Holistic Dealer and others... I am not aware of signing up or having Vista Antivirus protection as I use Norton. When I run Norton virus scan, it comes up clear. Nontheless, my computer is very slow, does unpredictable things (screens will close and open automatically, pop ups eventhough bloker is on, plays music with broken intervals when no sound is requested or available, etc.) and continuous pop-ups while on-line so much that this message comes from another computer as I would not complete this message on the "affected" computer.

My "f" key is not working as this key will close the window. This is due to a recent cup of water that was accidentaly spilled a week ago.

You guys have been great help in the past and I look forward to you assistance once again.

You have been infected. Go to this forum's sticky 'Security Help Tools' and try the online scanners, see it they can remove it. Additionally, there is Ad-aware and Spybot S&D, both are free.

Sorry, but cannot find where the Security Help Tools are located on the site. Dumb question, but just cannot locate. Can you direct me to the location?

Hi, Bit Defender could only take care of some of the infections.....


Please do this:

go to Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • On that page, click the icon
  • at lower right , and follow the prompts to get the installer version
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then save the log and then the log will open in Notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Paste the log in your next reply.
  • Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Don't forget this second part:

Please also do this:
  • Open Hijack This and click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button.
  • Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.
  • Click the "Save List" button. After you click the "Save List" button, you will be asked where to save the file. Pick a place to save it then the list should open in notepad.
  • Copy and paste that list here in your reply

Hi, Let's try this:

First, here's a simple guide about Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from Here or Here
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Hi.,

Please do a new scan with Kaspersky online, if possible,
Kaspersky online full scan
  • Please go HERE and click Free Online Scanner
  • Read and Accept the Agreement
  • You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • If you see a Windows dialog asking if you want to install this software, click the Install button.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files,
  • When the "Update progress" line changes to "Ready" and the "NEXT ->" button becomes available, please click on it.
  • Click on the Scan Settings button, and in the next window select the Extended database, and click Ok.
  • Under "Please select a target to scan:", click My Computer to start the scan.
  • When the scan is finished, click the "Save as Text" button, and save the file as kavscan.txt to your Desktop, close the Kaspersky On-line Scanner window.
  • Copy and Paste the contents of the on line scanner results into a Reply here in your thread, along with a new HJT log and log from any other scans you run.
If that won't work, use BitDefender again....

Hi,

For these two items: they are located in the Quarantine in BitDefender....you can delete the items from there, but I cannot tell you exactly how to... see your Help in BitDefender if you don't know how....

Next:

For this item: We empty the Java cache, see below

C:\Documents and Settings\KATIA\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\jvmimpro.jar-54e206d6-7aed8604.zip

Start> Open the Control Panel > Find the Java icon and double click it.....when the window comes up, see at the top, Temporary Files (or similar)> click that tab, and follow what it says to Delete temporary files or empty cache....

Do nothing, because they are part of the Smitfraudfix tool- they are always detected by antivirus scans because of what they can do, but they are NOT infected so leave them alone. They will be gone anyway when you Delete Smitfraudfix folders....

You should NOT keep this tool very long, it is constantly being updated to deal with the latest versions of the Smitfraud trojan, so you must always download a fresh copy ot SmitfraudFix.....

Next: (and do this only after you empty BitDefender Quarantine)

Run Hijackthis again and in your scan window, place checks next to the items I have in the list below only....when you have them checked, you MUST CLOSE all browsers (even this window) email, chat, IM, game, or other windows.....when all are closed, click "Fix checked" in Hijackthis to remove these items:

Alternate way to save directions:Open Notepad> Copy and Paste any text you wish into Notepad, and Save the file as something you will recognize like TSGhelp.txt and save it onto your desktop.

Your Java software needs changing.....

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Upgrading Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment .
  • At the page Scroll down, under Windows, select the Windows XP/Vista/2000/2003 Offline
    filesize: 15.24 MB     ....Click to Download.....Save the download someplace, Desktop, My Documents, etc where you can find it.

    You are going to INstall Version 6 Update 7

  • After the file is downloaded , you must UNinstall older versions....
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • (Yours to uninstall is- J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9)
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each old Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the new downloaded version.
