Solved: Good program
I just downloaded AVG 8.0 because I have heard people talk about how good AVG is. I told my mom to replace her Norton with AVG because I heard Norton takes over your computer, however her computer guy told her that AVG is bad and to keep Norton.

Well since I have downloaded AVG, I feel as though it has taken over my computer. It runs slower now, my outlook 2002 continually crashes. I had CA Suite I got free when I had roadrunner...for some reason I had in my head the CA Suite wasn't that good.

Now I'm totally frustrated with AVG. I just want good virus protection and anti spam. I don't need firewall because it seems to mess with my internet provider.

What's a good program?

Thanks for your help.

I used to use AVG, but ditched it a while back (can't remember why but there must have been a good reason).
Now use Avast Free version, which has given me no problems at all.

I have used AVG for about 5 years now.... narry a problem...(free edition). Also have Avast on an older laptop running WIN 98SE (avg no longer supports 98). for anti spyware I use ad-aware, spybot search and destory, windows defender.. Also recommend Zone Alarm firewall.

Its no good to have 2 antivirus programs running together - you have CA Suite and AVG. If you don't have faith in the CA Suite then uninstall that. I remember reading somewhere that CA antivirus rated poorly.

Don't say you don't need a firewall, a firewall prevents direct attacks from hackers. Microsoft realized their mistake by not enabling their firewall by default and corrected it with XP SP1. If you are going to remove CA Suite, then you will need a firewall, Comodo is very well rated and its free.

If you don't like AVG, then there is Avast, which is free. It is pretty well regarded around here.
