Solved: Port scanning warning, safe or not?
I keep getting a warning from my firewall saying someone is trying to port scan me, heres backtrace and whois.

if you mean operating system, Windows xp, and Sygate personal firewall.

Are you sure this is being sent by your firewall? I googled port scanning because I am not familiar with it. From what I read I think I would deny it.....better safe than sorry....
Perhaps someone here with more knowledge on the subject will post more information for you.

no my firewall isn't sending it, its alerting me and saying it blocked it but they keep attempting and it gets annoying.

Sorry.....I have not used the Sygate fire wall, I use the Zone Alarm but ZA has a place where you can select for it to NOT notify you of all the attempts. You might check the 'help' menu on the Sygate and see if there is a way to turn off those notices.

The range of ports you listed 192.168.0.0 thru 192.168.0.255 belongs to the addresses assigned by a router, so I suppose you're on a router.

I also used Sygate. When I blocked UDP scans from other PC's on my network (and they would do this on boot) , I would always get an alert when they tried to do that.

Sygate was OK. I replaced it with Online Armor. It has a similar interface, but is supported.
