Newbie: Avast on LINUX. questions re: running it
Hi.
I am very new to Linux (Ubuntu). Laptop is all of a few days old.

I have downloaded the AVAST for Linux free for homeusers file, and managed to run it and it now appears under Applications/system tools. I started the Avast application and set preferences for virus updates and email notification.

THE THING IS, I am so used to nortons (Yuk!) on windows, that Im all concerned that there is no icon anywhere to be found, telling me in its own sweet way that its monitoring things. Does this AVAST product scan incoming emails, internet downloads etc as they happen, or do I have to go and run a system scan manually all the time? Surely not.

I just know thereĺl be an easy explanation. But if you are able to help me, please speak english. The minute I see a bunch of terminal commands or linux techno-babble, I fall off my chair and start dibbling uncontrollably on the carpet. Costing me a fortune in carpet cleaning spray.
