Password lock out!!!
Today I booted up my notebook and for some reason when I put my password in it told me that my account was locked out??

Theres is no reason why it should be.

Does anyone know how to get round this please, as I have important data on the notebook that I need.

I am not convinced this is a pasword help issue as there can be a bunch of reasons
for " lockout".
It could be someone trying to hack your pc, put in wrong password etc...

Im also not sure that this is a password issue. the computer would normally give you 3-5 guesses at the password before locking you out.

Also, if you desperately need the data, you could remove the hdd and plug it in on another computer

Hi, You could possibly have activated a security device , many new computers come with them and there is an option to turn them off or on....it's something to check about at the manufacturer's support site- ask them for help finding out why you would suddenly be locked out, and find out what type of security features your computer has.

We cannot help assist with a lockout problem, or a forgotten or unaccepted password.

We have many requests for this same type of problem- though this may or may not be only a password issue, it certainly would involve us posting methods to try and workaround security which the owner of the site has elected to not assist with.

The main thing is, we have no way to verify just exactly how legitimate any request for this type of help is.....

Obviously, we can usually tell which posts seem to be legitimate but there actually is no way to be certain, and the site owner prefers not to pass judgment on each "password" or "lockout" thread.... I hope this helps clear this up.

There are plenty of other places to get the needed information- just use Google or any search engine. Even Microsoft Knowledgebase pages have help with password problems- Google will return links to the official Microsoft troubleshooting pages for you.

If it's a notebook computer, these often contain security features, and only the manufacturer's support techs can help you when you find yourself locked out- they do not always, but it's something you can look into.
