2 of My Laptops at Home Won't Boot
2 of my laptops at home won't boot up. It happened at the same time. I think its a virus because the operating system wont boot and also the bios won't display. I tried reformatting it with a disk but I couldn't get to the setup screen. When I start the computer it just shows a blank screen. How do I fix this problem. I will greatly appreciate any help on this matter.

If you could post the Mfg. of the computers and what operating system you have it will help us try to find a solution for you. Also if you can tell us the stuff (hardware) on it it would be of help to someone.

If the bios memory counting screen doesn't appear during bootup then I don't think it is a virus. Does the power light come on?

Laptops Hardware and Software
The two laptops hardware are toshiba and the operating systems they use are xp and vista. I don't know what the Mfg. is. The power light does come on when I press the power button but the screen is blank.

Is the display set to "external?"
Usually a FN key and another key with a screen or says "LCD/CRT"

Or am I thinking that it will still show the BIOS on the LCD... I can't remember haven't Played around with that for some time.

Mfg=Manufacturer. Only virus I can think of that would do this is Chernobyl and I'm pretty sure that's dead now (i.e. hasn't been updated for newer BIOSes). Kind of strange it happened to two at the same time. Could you have had a power surge?
