Solved: Download blocked by Security Zone Policy
I posted this message in the Windows XP forum but did not get any responses. I hope someone here may have some ideas.

All of a sudden I can not download any programs, music files etc. I just get the message "Download blocked by Security Zone Policy" in my Mozilla Firefox download screen. The same thing happened when I tried to use Internet Explorer.

I am running Windows XP and using Firefox 3.0.1. This problem began in the last few days and I have no idea what may have triggered it. I have gone into the Internet section of control panel and reduced the zone protection to the minimum. I have turned the firewall in McAfee off. These actions did not have any affect. I am not aware of any other program on my computer that would cause this to happen. I use Sypware Doctor, but I disabled that also. My computer is set to load Windows updates automatically and that would be the only software updated I might have loaded.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I have not been able to resolve this issue. I have reset the security settings in the Internet options pane to the least secure option available. (I also tried resetting to default options). Nothing works. I an not able to download anything including simple pdf files. As I mentioned in my post, I disabled McAfee and Spydoctor. Nothing seems to affect this problem.
